Arched Pediment

The arched pediment is intended to be installed between two rosette blocks at the top of door and window openings to provide a more dramatic effect than casing alone.  They can be used with any rosette block style, but we feel they look best with our Teardrop or Arched Top rosettes shown below. We typically apply a slight eased edge but can cut any of our contemporary edge details if desired.  For most situations, an arched pediment should be 1/8" longer than the distance from inside to inside of the jambs.  Pricing is for poplar, up to 1 inch thick, suitable for painting, unprimed.

4" Arched Pediment pictured with two 4-1/2" wide, BR302 Teardrop rosettes w/eyebrow.

Simple, yet elegant!  That describes the Contemporary crosshead.  The arched top and flared ends, with a slightly eased edge, provide a distinct appearance that is also affordable.  We can apply any of our Contemporary edge details that are available on our rosette and plinth blocks, see below, for a more dramatic look, or just to match up with those mouldings should you be utilizing them as well.  The base of the Contemporary crosshead should be about 1/2" longer than the distance from outside to outside of casings.  Pricing is for poplar, 1 inch thick, suitable for painting, unprimed.

Also available with a 1-1/4" thick base to accommodate 1" thick casings.

Classical Crosshead

4" Classical Crosshead pictured with a 2-1/4" casing.

Classical crossheads are constructed of two parts.  We start with the base which should be 5/16" thicker than the casing, then add the cap which is 3/4" deeper and 1-1/2" wider than the base to create this masterpiece.  The base of the Classical crosshead should be about 5/8" longer than the total distance from outside to outside of the casings.

Pricing is for select poplar, suitable for painting, unprimed.  We list some common sizes, but will pro-rate for your actual lengths.

Length is indicated at the base of the crosshead.

Shaker Crosshead

6" Shaker Crossheads pictured with a 4" casing.

The Shaker crosshead is yet another example of a customer adding to our product selection, when asked if we could create something that would go well with their shaker style interior.  We thought it might be something that others would appreciate so here it is.  The chamfered crown projects 1-1/2" on both sides as well as the front.  The Shaker crosshead is available with a flat (above right) or chamfered (above left) bottom.

Pricing is for select poplar w/flat bottom, unprimed.  We list some common sizes, but will pro-rate for your lengths.

Craftsman Crosshead

7" Craftsman Crosshead pictured with a 4" casing.

The Craftsman style crosshead is a simple affair, yet still quite popular.  We offer it with either the standard square edge, or with a 3/16" radius on the top element and a 1/8" radius on the bottom element to soften the look.

The top element is 1-1/4" tall and projects 3/4" on all sides of the flat mid- section.  The bottom element is 3/4" thick, with a 3/8" projection.  The flat mid-section is typically 3/4" thick, but if your casing is thicker than that we can adjust the depth accordingly.

Pricing is for paint grade poplar, but other materials are available.  We list some common sizes, but will pro-rate for your lengths.

Length is indicated at the center flat of the crosshead.

Price will be pro-rated based on actual length of your crosshead.

6" Traditional Crosshead pictured with a 4" casing.

Traditional crossheads consist of a 1" thick flat base along with a decorative crown, which is nearly 2" tall and projects 1-1/2" on all three sides.  The length of the Traditional crosshead should be about 1/2" greater than the total distance from outside to outside of the casings.

Victorian Crosshead

8" Victorian Crosshead pictured with 4" casing.

Victorian crossheads are basically taller versions of Traditional crossheads with a V-groove cut 1" up from the bottom of the base, which is is done for two reasons.  One reason is it helps to occupy the additional space an 8" tall crosshead creates and the other reason is to mesh with our Victorian plinth blocks and baseboard corners that incorporate a V-groove element.  The top cap height and projection are the same.  These crossheads should also be about 1/2" longer than the distance from outside to outside of the casings.

Victorian crossheads are available with either an Ogee top section (left) or Bead top section (right), as shown above.

Imperial Crosshead

8" Imperial Crosshead pictured with a 4" casing.

Imperial crossheads are similar to our Victorian crossheads, but rather than a V-groove, these crossheads incorporate a 3/4" thick lower element with 1/8" eased edges that projects 3/8" on all sides.  Due to that element, the flat center section becomes the point where we measure for length, which should be the same length as the distance from outside to outside of the casings.

Imperial crossheads are available with either an Ogee top section (left) or Bead top section (right), as shown above.

Pricing is for select poplar, suitable for painting, unprimed.  We list some common sizes, but will pro-rate for your lengths.
